The Need to Know

The military wing of the group which controls Gaza is already proscribed a terrorist organisation by the UK. However, the change will also cover the Islamist movement's political wing.

Bodyguards will protect MPs during their interactions with the public while self-defence training may also be available to politicians, under plans being considered following the death of Sir David Amess, who was stabbed 17 times in his constituency surgery last month.

A hacker has sent thousands of fake emails from a real FBI address, warning the recipients that their networks were being attacked by a reputable cyber security researcher.

The hoax emails were not sent by anyone with access to the FBI's technology infrastructure, but by someone abusing a misconfigured web portal, the agency has confirmed.

Austria is to become the first European country to make vaccinations against Covid 19 mandatory

“For a long time the consensus in this country was that we don’t want a vaccine mandate,” Schallenberg said after a meeting with the Alpine republic’s heads of state. “In spite of months of persuasion, we have not managed to convince enough people to be vaccinated”.

The drone can be launched in mid-air, perform its mission, and then return to safe airspace where the cargo plane can grab it and carry it back to a military base where it could be refurbished and prepped for the next mission in less than 24 hours.

There is an increase in demand for bodyguards and other protection services with kidnappings on the rise in South Africa. There's been an uptick in businessmen being kidnapped for ransom and the families of wealthy businesspeople are also being targeted.

Freedom of Information Act requests are rarely speedy, but when a group of scientists asked the federal government to share the data it relied upon in licensing Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, the response…

Everyone’s seen ‘The Matrix’ right? Morpheus is standing in front of you, hand extended, offering you the ultimate choice: blue or red.

The blue pill leads to a stable career in Corporate Executive Protection — more often than not, standard hours, reasonable expectations and a healthy benefits package.

Alternatively, the red pill takes you down the rabbit hole to the wild and unpredictable world of celebrity security. Long hours, temperamental clients, and a job description that includes pretty much everything but the kitchen sink.

For those of us who have entered this industry with the strong desire to apply our skills to protect others in the most professional manner possible, it’s almost a no-brainer, right?

Situation Report by RANE

ISKP’s expanding geographic threat to Taliban rule. The announcement also illustrates the Taliban’s need to intensify its existing campaign against ISKP, which could lead to the deterioration of Afghanistan’s security situation and the erosion of the Taliban’s fragile legitimacy. If fighting escalates in the country, Afghanistan’s already critical humanitarian crisis would likely lead to further internal displacement or a refugee crisis.

This escalation prompted Armenia to formally appeal to Russia for military assistance under the 1997 bilateral defense treaty, and Russian troops stationed in Armenia were allegedly moved to full combat readiness. The seizure of Armenian land appears to be a long-planned Azerbaijani provocation intended to pressure Armenia into favorable terms as the two nations reportedly finalize long-awaited border and transportation agreements. In combination with Armenia’s already-precarious domestic security situation, Azerbaijan’s strategy may be effective.

From the Community

Yesterday (Friday), saw the Circuit community, along with fellow BBA and NABA members, come together and take part in our latest event - Managing Workplace Violence. Not only was this a superb event with lots of actionable take-away's but, for the first time, we also broadcast live directly through the BBA Connect app.

From the outset, it has always been our aim to make the apps more than just a chat group and to actually 'put knowledge directly into the hands of protectors, wherever they are.' Yesterday's event saw us take another step forward in that journey, with lots more to come.
